Pacific Coral Research Services (PCRS) provides science-based consulting and technical support for coral reef monitoring, environmental assessment, restoration, and conservation planning throughout the Pacific Islands region. We work with government agencies, researchers, nonprofits, and private organizations to develop practical, defensible solutions tailored to the specific goals and regulatory needs of each project.

PCRS applies both standard and advanced field and analytical methods to support short-term and long-term monitoring programs. Our services include coral reef baseline assessments, ecological monitoring design, benthic and fish community surveys, transect and quadrat sampling, underwater photogrammetry, habitat mapping, and spatial data analysis. We also provide specialized taxonomic expertise for difficult or understudied coral reef species through collaborations with experienced regional partners and subject matter experts.

In addition to field and analytical services, PCRS develops science-driven management and conservation planning documents, including incident response plans, invasive species management and response strategies, restoration and mitigation planning, and other resource management products tailored to client and stakeholder needs. Our approach emphasizes scientific rigor, clear communication, and practical application to support effective coral reef conservation and management across tropical and subtropical Pacific ecosystems.

PCRS is led by Dr. Anthony (Tony) Montgomery. He is a marine biologist and coral reef scientist with more than two decades of experience conducting research, monitoring, and conservation planning across the Pacific Islands region. His work spans tropical and subtropical reef ecosystems throughout Hawaiʻi, American Samoa, Okinawa, and other Pacific locations, with expertise in coral reef ecology, mesophotic coral ecosystems, black coral ecology, invasive species management, restoration planning, and advanced underwater photogrammetry.
